Collection: Original Mine Headframe and Dirt - Butte, Montana

Dancing the jig has replaced dancing around dynamite (if that was such a thing).

Weddings have replaced funerals…There were 43 mine deaths at the Original, according to the sign, which operated from 1878-1976.

I’m sure the modern day festive events like The Montana Folk Festival, the 4H Fair, Weddings & Pumpkin Patches have far outdone the number of deaths by now.
